A Warm Eclectic Nursery for Little Miss Monk - Part I
So in a matter of days I am having another kid. Mom of two, that's me.

This time around it's a girl (so they have told me...) and while that freaked me out to start (hello? I am a boy mom. Trucks, transformers, little willies... that's my life), I am pretty sure this little chick is going to be a bad ass. I just get this sense that she has some serious spirit. This image of a tiny force majeure was definitely in my mind while dreaming up her room. And since planning her room is the only thing that has kept me sane through the endless weeks known as the third trimester, I took it pretty seriously. I made a Pinterest board. Actually, I made three. Yup. I pinned the shit out of this room. I had multiple ideas that need to be fleshed out in a way only Pinterest can provide.
I was aiming for a room that wasn't too, well, baby-ish. This kid is going to be a strong woman someday and deserves a room free of condescending baby bullshit, right? ...Also, I just really like cacti and kilims at the moment (selfish? maybe). So the desert room was decided on due to a pillow purchase from my favorite little gem of a home decor site Loom & Kiln and falling deeply in love with a paint color called Guava (by C2 paints) that my husband hates (which almost made me love it more....).
And so the journey began...
